Saudi Aramco Raises Official Selling Prices Amid OPEC Supply Concerns

Saudi Arabian Oil Co. said Saturday that it would raise its oil prices across the board in March, against a backdrop of a tight market and supply risks in Eastern Europe.

The state-run company, also known as Saudi Aramco, raised its prices for sales of its Arab light crude to Far East Asia by 60 U.S. cents a barrel. That means the firm's sales to the region carry a $2.80 a barrel premium over the Oman/Dubai average. All varieties from extra light to heavy crude see price rises ranging from 30 cents to 70 cents, respectively.

Sales to northwest Europe saw the largest price hike amid concerns that tensions  could threaten the continent's access to Russian energy supplies. Sales of light crude to the region will see a $1.70-a-barrel hike, taking Aramco prices to a 10-cent discount to the ICE Brent benchmark.

Prices for Mediterranean consumers also see a $1.40-a-barrel hike for Aramco's light crude, putting the firm's prices on a par with ICE Brent.

Sales to the U.S. are set for a 30-cents-a-barrel hike across all Aramco's crude oil varieties.

The price hikes come as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, of which Saudi Arabia is a leading member, struggles to increase production at pace with their pledges. The group has come under increasing pressure from consuming nations to hike supply as demand rebounds and prices rally.
