據(jù)美國(guó)油價(jià)網(wǎng)5月16日?qǐng)?bào)道，盡管汽油價(jià)格創(chuàng)下歷史新高，但美國(guó)的汽油需求并未下降。過(guò)去兩周，美國(guó)的每日汽油價(jià)格屢創(chuàng)新高。  

根據(jù)美國(guó)汽車協(xié)會(huì)（AAA）發(fā)布的數(shù)據(jù)，截至5月16日，美國(guó)全國(guó)普通汽油平均價(jià)格為每加侖4.483美元，為歷史最高。這比一周前的每加侖4.328美元，比一個(gè)月前的每加侖4.077美元，比去年同一天的每加侖3.044美元都出現(xiàn)大幅上漲。  

在過(guò)去的幾天里，美國(guó)汽油價(jià)格每天都在刷新紀(jì)錄。國(guó)際原油價(jià)格高企，加上市場(chǎng)受到地緣政治沖突的影響，以及疫情后旅行需求的復(fù)蘇，推動(dòng)今年美國(guó)汽油價(jià)格走高。

不過(guò)，據(jù)油價(jià)統(tǒng)計(jì)軟件GasBuddy石油分析主管帕特里克·德·哈恩分享的數(shù)據(jù)顯示，過(guò)去一周(周日至周六)，美國(guó)的汽油需求比前一周增加3.0%，比四周平均水平增加1.8%。哈恩5月15日在推特上說(shuō)：“美國(guó)人顯然沒(méi)有因?yàn)楦咂蛢r(jià)而太氣餒。”

哈恩補(bǔ)充稱，如果汽油價(jià)格接近每加侖6美元，美國(guó)汽油需求將遭到指數(shù)級(jí)破壞。

哈恩說(shuō)：“很多人都在談?wù)撐覀兛吹降闹笖?shù)級(jí)需求破壞。在正常的無(wú)疫情環(huán)境下，考慮到通貨膨脹，現(xiàn)在汽油價(jià)格每加侖可能會(huì)超過(guò)5美元，但考慮到當(dāng)前的經(jīng)濟(jì)，5美元不會(huì)破壞這么多的需求。 我認(rèn)為破壞汽油需求需要接近6美元。”

Highest Ever U.S. Gasoline Prices Aren’t Destroying Demand

U.S. gasoline demand is not going down despite record-high gasoline prices, which have been beating previous all-time highs on a daily basis in the past two weeks.

As of May 16, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.483—the highest on record, according to AAA data. That’s up from $4.328 a week ago, $4.077 a month ago, and a massive jump from $3.044 per gallon on the same day in 2021.

Over the past days, U.S. gasoline prices have been setting records day after day. High international crude oil prices, with markets rattled by the war and a post-COVID recovery in travel demand, have been pushing U.S. gasoline prices higher this year.

Still, weekly gasoline demand in the United States increased by 3.0% in the past week (Sunday through Saturday) from the prior week and was up 1.8% compared to the four week average, according to data from fuel-savings app GasBuddy shared by its head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan.

“Americans clearly aren being too discouraged by high gasprices,” De Haan tweeted on Sunday.

The line for exponential demand destruction is if gasoline prices get closer to $6 per gallon, De Haan added.

“Much talked about the line where we see exponential demand destruction. In a normal non-Covid environment, it probably be north of $5 per gallon now with inflation, but given the current economy, $5 wouldn't destroy as much demand. I think we need to get closer to $6,” he said.

In a note on Monday, De Haan said, “Prices later this week could be closer to $5 per gallon than $4, as demand continues to edge higher and inventories of both gasoline and diesel continue to decline, temperatures warm and motorists get back outside and we near the Memorial Day weekend, the start of the summer driving season.”

“While the increases may start to slow in the days ahead as pump prices catch up to oil, there isn’t much reason to be optimistic that we’ll see a plunge any time soon,” he added.
