Devon Energy 2Q Profit Soared on Higher Oil Price, Increased Production
Devon Energy Corp. said Monday its profit soared in the second quarter from a year earlier, boosted by higher production and oil prices and by a streamlined cost structure.
The Oklahoma City-based oil and gas producer reported net income of $1.93 billion, compared with income of $256 million in the same period of 2021. Earnings per share rose to $2.93 from 38 cents, and adjusted earnings per share reached $2.59. Total revenue jumped to $5.63 billion from $2.42 billion.
Total production for the second quarter rose to 616,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, up from 567,000 barrels per day in the second quarter of 2021. Total expenses rose to $3.13 billion from $2.11 billion a year earlier, Devon said.
